OBITUARY

Granville Adolphus Barrows, born September 20, 1849 at Parkersburg, West Virginia, died May 10, 1922. He was married to Rhoda A. Hoselton, September 25, 1873. To this union four sons were born, three of whom are living, Everett of Coulee City, Wash., Marvin of Browning and Fred of Ness City, Kan. His wife died March 16, 1882. He was again married to Martha A. Hooker, December 5, 1883. To this union eight children were born, seven of whom are living, Mrs. Mae Hubbard of Hale, Mp., Mrs. Dora Atkins of Tucumcari, New Mexico, Mrs. Veda Warren, Ben, George, Ervin and Gladys of Browning, Mo.; all whom were present at the time of his death. Besides his wife and children, he leaves 19 grand children, one great grand child, three brothers, Charley Williams, Fred and Jake Barrows, four sisters, Eudora, Ida, Barbra and Liddie, besides a whost(sic) of friends. Funeral servcies were conducted by Rev. W. W. Clay of Harris at the family home near Old Scottsville. The A. F. & A. M. of this city had charge of the services at the Hoover cemetery where his body was laid to rest to await the resurrection morn.

Children

Granville and Martha Ann Hooker lived on a farm 4 miles northwest of Browning, Missouri in Sullivan County. Besides farming he also did blacksmith work in a shop on his farm. After Granville's death, May 10, 1922, Martha continued living on the farm with her son, George and daughter, Gladys until the spring of 1924. Martha then moved to Browning, Missouri and lived there until her death in 1933. They had 8 children all born in Sullivan County, Missouri. 191
