OBITUARY - Ervin Barrows Passed Away March 18th

Ervin Ray, son of Granville A. and Martha A. Barrows, was born February 19, 1900, in Sullivan County, Missouri, and departed this life at his home near Purdin, Missouri, March 18, 1953, at the age of 53 years, 27 days.

On November 24, 1921, he was united in marriage to Audree Warren of Browning, Mo. To this union nine children were born, Devon, Richmond, Nelda Bauswell, East Alton, Illinois, Granville and Maurice of Kansas City, Kan., Ronald, Cottage, Hills, Illinois, Irene Cokerham, Browning, Mo., Jerry and Martha Mae of the home. One son, Gerald Hugh, died in infancy. Three grandchildren, Donald Dean Bauswell and Gerald and Rosalie Barrows.

Besides the family mentioned above he leaves two sisters, Mae Hubbard, Hale, Mo., and Veda Warren, Purdin, Mo., three half-brothers, Everett, Coulee City, Wash.; Fred, Ness City, Kansas; Marvin, Brookfield, Mo., and a host of other relatives and friends. His father, mother, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Twenty-nine years ago he united with the Locust Valley Baptist Church near Browning.

Mr. Barrows has spent his entire life on a farm in Linn County. He was a good neighbor and was ready to help any one in need. He always seemed to enjoy life and always liked to visit with relatives, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Purdin, at three o’clock Saturday afternoon, March 21, 1953, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Kelley of Brookfield, assisted by Rev. Campbell. The song services were by Mrs. Orlando Johnson, Mrs. Vena Wade, Guy Johnson and James Calhoun. Mrs. Marjorie Murrain was the pianist.

Bearers were Burl Warren, Henry Brown, James Fowler, Rollie Barlow, Fred Witte and Joseph Yagel. Interment was made in the Locust Valley cemetery under the direction of the Wade Funeral Home.
