OBITUARY

Rebecca Anne Burwell was born 6 March 1869 near Scottsville, in Sullivan County, Missouri to Marion and Jane Burwell. She was called Aunt Anne. Rebecca married James Sheridan Shipley 18 September 1888 and had 8 children. Three died at birth. Alvin, her oldest son died in the First World War. She lived at Reger, Sullivan County, Missouri. She was quiet likeable and accepted her difficult life as a farm woman with grace. She died 26 Feb 1948 in the Kirksville hospital and is buried in Henry Cemetery, Sullivan County, Missouri. Her obituary appeared in the Browning Leader-Record on 4 March 1948. She was survived by her husband, daughters Grace Moffitt and Ruth of Reger, MO; Ruby Bryan of Ludlow, MO; and sons Leonard and Ross who lived at home.
