OBITUARY

Marion Burwell born in Cumberland, Green County, PA 10 May 1840 (sic 1848) where he grew to manhood. He married Martha Jane Gable of Fayette County, PA on 1 Feb 1868 and they came to Missouri the following year in 1869 with the Gable family locating on a farm west of Browning. Coming with Martha's parents and siblings, leaving behind only two brothers. Some years later he purchased a farm near Clear Spring School in Sullivan County, where they lived many years. He was a Baptist and an ordained minister of the gospel. Three sons and two daughters were born, Mrs. Anna Shipley, Reger; John or near Moberly; W. C. of Milan; Mrs. Lean Maggart of near Green City, MO; J. D. Burwell of this city. After his wife's death in May 1916 he sold the farm and made his home with his son Willis Burwell of Milan where he died 12 Jul 1919. Services at home, burial Mundell (Dry Ridge) Cemetery, Linn Co, MO.

Died, at the home of his son, W. C. Burwell, July 12, 1919, at 9:00am. Marion Burwell, aged 71 years, 2 months and 2 days. Funeral services at the home on South Market Street, Sunday July 13, 1919, at 1:00pm, Interment at Mundell Cemetery. Friends of the family invited. ²⁴³
