bullet  General Notes:

Thomas Isaac Truitt and his brother, James Alfred Truitt, migrated with their families from Macon County, North Carolina to Shelby County,Texas in 1839. The trip was difficult. Most of it was made by flat bottom boats as the families traveled on the Tennessee River, came down the Mississippi River, then up the Red River to Natchitoches, and finally moving overland with the ox teams they brought along. They entered Texasat Pendleton Ferry. There were twenty slaves with the group.
Isaac received a land grant on 1 Jan. 1839. The tradition is that he was killed during the Shelby County War which was a war between the Regulators and the Moderators in 1841/42. 1805
