bullet  General Notes:

Joseph and Mary moved from Ohio to Dardanelle, Arkansas around 1854. He had a saw mill there on the Arkansas River. After Joseph’s death (about 1860) Mary moved the family to the Heard Community near Lono, Arkansas. She bought a farm and lived there until her children had married or died. She then went to live with her oldest son, Lewis, who lived near Leola, Arkansas and was with him until her death in about 1898. She is buried in the Lono Cemetery in Lono, Arkansas.

One of the last things that Joseph made at his saw mill was a dining table of walnut fashioned from a log found floating down the Arkansas River. When he sawed it up the boards were so wide that it only took two for the top of the table.

Some dispute on his birth date, may have been 1812.
