Since graduation he has been a co-owner of Medical Operations Systems, a company which manages and staffs emergency rooms and provides 'house' doctors for various hospitals. The Coppels reside in Upper Arlington, Ohio.

Lewis married Susan Jane Fisher, daughter of William Keith "Keith" Fisher I and Isabelle Laura Wills, on 2 Jul 1978. (Susan Jane Fisher was born on 15 May 1949 in Ironton, Lawrence, Ohio, USA.)
