From The Seneca Advertiser Thursday August 19, 1909, the obituary: " The funeral of Miss Mary Jane Truitt, who died Aug. 9 at her home in Sulphur Springs, Wyandot County, was held Thursday. Deceased was born in this county near Bloomville and was the daughter of George and Mary (King) Truitt. She had suffered with asthma for several years and tuberculosis for the past year." It should be noted that her death certificate lists August 10th as date of death, and that Sulphur Springs is in Crawford County. At the time of her death, she probably lived with her sister Elizabeth Truitt Kocher Ganshorn in the home of her neice and namesake, Mary Jane Goshorn Zaebst.

I found a marriage certificate for Mary Jane Truitt that shows she married a John Foos on September 12, 1865. I am certain that this is the daughter of George P. named Mary Jane Truitt b 1848, but to add to the confusiion, she was always known later in life as Mary Jane Truitt, and believed to be an old maid. So I don't know what happened to John Foos, but he must have died or left sometime soon after the marriage and she resumed using her maiden name.

As a coincidence, perhaps, her niece and the daughter of her sister Elizabeth Truitt Kocher Goshorn, Mary Ellen Kocher b 1853, married a John Foos in 1870. Probably not the same man, but I don't know for sure. 1695
