I saw your query on the Delaware Genealogy site. Would you have any information on the family listed below. I am trying to find the connection between the Narcissa Ellen Dennis, age 6 living with the Truitt family.

1850 Federal Census, Worcester Co. MD

John Truitt, of Geo, age 67, farmer, R.E. $1500 born MD
Narcissa Truitt, age 64
Lemuel E. Truitt, age 29, officer, born MD
Sally C. Truitt, age 21
Josiah Baker, age 12
Narcissa E. Dennis, age 6
James W. Hamblin, age 28, shingle maker, R.E. $300

Narcissa Dennis, and her brother, Lemuel Edward Pitts Dennis were born in the mid-1840s. I am guessing that their parents died before 1850, as they are living in different households.

Henry Dennis may be the father of Narcissa and Lemuel Dennis. I am trying to get a death certificate and obituary for Lemuel. Since Lemuel was fairly well-known in Crisfield, and was a state senator, I am hoping his obituary will contain some family info.

We had exchanged emails a while ago, regarding a Truitt/Dennis connection. I was asking about a Narcissa Ellen Dennis, who in 1850 was living with John Truitt/Narcissa Purnell Truitt.

We recently heard from the Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture, to whom we had
sent a request for info. The researcher stated: "According to the Book,DENNIS & CO., by Lynn Perry,
page 44, Henry Dennis and Hester Truitt Dennis were the parents of L.E.P.Dennis and Narcissa Ellen Dennis. Hester died in 1847." "...the grandparents of L.E.P. and Narcissa were Henry Dennis and Ann Lewis Dennis."

The DENNIS & Co. book also mentioned:

Hester Truitt was sister to Minos, Rufus and Lemuel Truitt. Henry DennisSr. will proven 7/31/1849, William Truitt was a witness. Henry Dennis Jr.will dated 4/12/1863, proven 5/26/1863. A George Truitt, married SallyDennis, daughter of Henry Sr.

There are other references to Truitts in this book, if you have not already seen it. We have about 10 pages which the Delmarva researcher sent us, if you would like copies.

We have, of course, developed a sudden interest in Truitts. Would you have any more info on the ancestors of John Truitt and Narcissa Purnell Truitt? Do you know of any Truitt family histories you could point us towards? We also have some of the descendants of Narcissa Ellen Dennis Wyatt and Lemuel Edward Pitts Dennis, if you are interested.
