James Brookshaw son of James and Mary Brookshaw born 1 April 1690.

Two other records of a James Brookshire have been found in Dorchester County, Maryland. They are copied here in full:

"Know all men by these presents, that I James Brookshire of Dorchester County in the Province of Maryland, planter, for and in consideration of the sum of Six Pounds Ten Shillings and Eight Pence current money to me in hand paid by Philip Walker and John Caile of the sd. County, Merchants, have bargined and sold and by these presents do bargin, sell and set over unto the said Philip Walker and John Caile and their assigns forever, one small Black Horse Branded with a W on the Buttock of the using side and a small white snip in the forehead, two young cows marked with a slit and under bit in the left ear, they being both now with calves with their increase. "To have and to Hold the said Horse, Cows and their increase to the said Phillip and John, their heirs and assigns forever, and I do hereby warrent and defend the said Horse, Cows and their increase unto the said Phillip and John & their Heirs and assigns forever against all manner of Persons whatsoever for the true performance whereof and of every part of this instrument of writing, I bind myself, my heirs, Executors and Admrs. unto the said Phillip Walker and John Caile, their heirs or assigns in the penal sum thirteen pounds, one shilling, & four pence like money.
"Witness my hand and seal this 10th Mch. 1755.

On the back of the aforegong Deed was the following endorsement made.

Dorchester County SS-On the 14th day of March Anno Domini 1755,
came the within mentioned James Brookshire before me the subscriber and did acknowledge the within Bill of Sale to be his act and Deed and the goods and Chattels Therein mentioned to be the Right & Property of Phillip Walker and John Caile, their Exers, Admrs. and assigns forever.
"Taken and acknowledged before-"

"Know all men by these presents that I, James Brookshire of the County and Province afd. Planter, for and in consideration of the sum of five pounds ten shillings current money to me in hand paid by Christopher Norman of the same County, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and discharge the said Christopher Norman his heirs, Exrs. and Admrs. Have bargained sold, transferred, made over and Delivered & by these presents for the consideration afd. do bargain, sell, transfer make over and Deliver unto the said Christr. Norman, his heirs and assigns forever(viz) One Young Iron Gray Gelding & one Pied Black and white cow. "to have and to hold the same horse unto him the said Christr. Norman, his heirs & assigns to his and their proper use forever and I do hereby covenant and agree that I, the said James Brookshire and my Heirs, Exrs. & Admrs. for the consideration afd. shall and will warrent and forever defend them to him the said
Christopher Norman, his heirs & assigns forevermore.

On the back of the aforegoing Sale was the endorsement made on the 21day of March 1757 James Brookshire did acknowledge the within Deed of Sale and the creatures therein mentioned to be the right, Title & Property of Christr. Norman, his Heirs and assigns according to the true intent & meaning thereof according to Act of Assembly in purchase made and provided.

Dorchester County, Maryland Probate Records: Reference Liber 88,folio 320-335.
From a list of debts due to the estates of Mr. David Murray, we find the name JAMES BROOKSHIRE. The list was probated in DorchesterCounty, Maryland, undated but probably from 1765 because of the reference dates of Liber 88.
