OBITUARY

Claude E. (Spin) Duppstadt, 75, of Hubert, N.C., formerly of Stonycreek Twp., died Sept. 9, 2012 in N.C. Born June 21, 1937 near Shanksville.

Preceded in death by parents Elwood, Sr. and Freda Mae (King) Duppstadt, sisters: Ellen Custer and Lois (infant) and brothers: Donald, Jay, Orie, Kenneth Sr., Tom and Jerry.

Survived by his wife of 41 years Gwen (Walker) Duppstadt; sons: Andrew, Hubert, N.C. and Timothy and fiancée Jeanne Stanley, Verona, N.C.

Also survived by sisters: Dorothy Troy, Friedens, Minnie Davis and Edna (Clyde) Stutzman, Pittsburgh, Shirley (James) Otto, Schellsburg, Emma (Bill) Burket and Janet, Shanksville; and brothers: Elwood, Jr. (Sidney), Cairnbrook and Merle, Shanksville.

Claude graduated from Shanksville-Stonycreek High School in 1955, enlisted in the Marine Corps and retired as a GySgt in 1975. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam.

He was employed as a custodian at Shanksville-Stonycreek School from 1976 to 1985.

He was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, NC.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Unity United Church of Christ. Rev. Jay E. Shaffer officiating. Interment Glade Cemetery. Graveside military rites by Somerset Co. Honor Guard.
