TROY

Clarence Richard "Dick" Troy, 78, of West Wind Road, Friedens, died Oct. 1, 2002 at home, after a two year struggle with cancer. Born Sept. 25, 1924 in Confluence, he was the son of Clifton C. and Etta A. (McClintock) Troy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Eugene. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Dorothy L. Duppstadt; children, Linda J., married to Edward Leer, and Randy R., married to the former Emily Emert, both of Somerset; grandchildren, Brennen R. and Marshall W. Troy, both of' Somerset; a brother Charles, arried to the former Patty Kooser, Friedens; and a sister, Shirley, married to Ronald Brant, Fremont, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving October 1942 -November 1945 aboard the USS Kiowa in the invasion of France at the battle of Normandy. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel, Gautier Div., Johnstown, before retiring in 1983. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where a service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Edward V. DeVore officiating. Interment with military honors in Friedens Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may he sent to Community Ministry Fund, 131 S. Main St., Friedens, Pa. 15541, or to "In-Touch" Hospice. 1590 N. Center Ave., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
