OBITUARY -- Cheryl Kay Barker

Cheryl Kaye Barker, 50, of Malvern, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, in Memphis, Tenn.

She was born Dec. 3, 1954, in Malvern, Ark., to Marvin C. Thomas and Marilyn Heard Thomas. She was a licensed practical nurse and an employee of Longview Nursing Home. She was a former employee of Hot Spring County Medical Center. She was a very caring person and spent her life caring for the needs of others. She was of the Baptist faith. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading, traveling and riding horses. However, her most favorite pastime was spending time with her family, her children and especially her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years whom she married on Dec. 27, 1977, Norman "Dean" Barker of the home; two daughters, Dana Scott of Malvern and Kristen Barker of Malvern; her parents, Marvin C. and Marilyn Thomas; one brother, Ken Thomas of Malvern; and four grandchildren, Kourtney Brooks, Tyler James, Alayna James and Kaleb Frazier.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Heard and Mr. and Mrs. James A. Reed.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, in Lono Cemetery with Rev. Haskell Grant officiating.

Pallbearers are Eric Carrier, Chris Brooks, Ray Dyer, Joe Dyer, Clyde Dyer, Jimmy Dyer and Mike Page.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern.
