Mary Truitt and John Clark are my GGGgrandparents. John Clark had 13 children, one of whom, John Wesley Clark, is my GGgrandfather. He married Mary E. Smith. One of their 6 children, Mary M. Clark married Benjamin F.Townsend. That is where I branch off.

I was confused about the dates entered for Mary Truitt's birth/death. According to "Souls in Heaven,
Names in Stone" by the Dills', their dates on the stones are different. Mary Truitt b. Aug 21, 1800, d. Dec 3, 1886 in Talbot County, MD. At the time, she was visiting her granddaughter, Mrs. Sarah Whitby. John Clark b. Apr 26, 1787 d. Mar 10, 1870. They are both buried in the Clark family plot, Sandtown, DE.

I was back in Delaware and Maryland last week. I visited my 3rd grandfather's and grandmother's gravesites in Sandtown, Kent Co., DE. She would be Mary Truitt who married John Clark. Mary Truitt b. Aug 21 1800 d. Dec 3, 1886. She would be the youngest daughter of Samuel Truitt and Nancy Davis. Both gravestones are in poor condition now. Mary's is flat on the ground, and is broken in several pieces. John Clark's (her husband's) gravestone is still standing, just getting difficult to read. Well anyway, their gravesites are located on a private farm in Sandtown at 77 Sandtown Road. ¹⁶⁹⁹

John married Mary Truitt, daughter of Samuel Truitt Jr. and Nancy Davis, on 16 Oct 1818 in Kent County, Delaware, USA.¹⁶⁹⁹ (Mary Truitt was born on 21 Aug 1800 in Kent County, Delaware, USA,¹⁶⁹⁹ died on 3 Dec 1886 in Sandtown, Kent, Delaware, USA ¹⁶⁹⁹ and was buried in Clark Family Cemetery (Sandtown, Kent, Delaware, USA) ¹⁶⁹⁹.)
