Harriett and Jesse Weaver moved to Paraguay, South America in January, 1960. In 1967, after staying a couple years in the United States for the children to learn or relearn English, the family made the trip from Steele, Missouri to Paraguay in a VW Bus. There were two adults, 6 children and a poodle named "Little John". They left Steele, MO on May 14th. The trip took them through southern United States, Mexico and Central America. They had to take a ship from Panama to Peru, because the Che Guevara and his revolutionaires were believed to be in Columbia; so no visa could be issued for US citizens to that country at that time. They continued through Peru, Bolivia and the Paraguay Chaco to arrive in Asuncion on August 15th, three months later.
