OBITUARY - Mrs. Mae Hubbard Passed Away, Near Hale, March 1st

Ella Mae Hubbard, daughter of Granville and Martha Ann (Hooker) Barrows, was born near Browning, Missouri, September 17, 1884, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Weldon Griswold, near Hale, March 1, 1959, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 14 days.

In early girlhood, Mrs. Hubbard was converted and became a member of the South Methodist Church.

On August 18, 1909, she was married to Noel Hubbard, her home near Browning. To this union four daughters were born: Mrs. Irene Barlow, Mrs. Martha Griswold of Hale, Mrs. Dotha Matthews of Orrick, and Mrs. Frances Lee Flotz of Chillicothe.

For several years Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard made their home near Hale, where they were engaged in farming. On account of failing health they moved to Hale, where they resided the past ten years. Mr. Hubbard passed away July 27, 1958, leaving her alone in the home.

Besides her four daughters, there are twelve grandchildren, Russell Barlow, Hardin; Mrs. Joyce Struop, Kansas City; Trenneth Barolw, Herbert and Junior Griswold, Pamela, Elwin, Elton, Gayle and Carl Mathews, Orrick; Janice and Lee Foltz, Chillicothe, and nine great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Veda Warren, Purdin, two half brothers, Marvin Barrows of Brookfield and Fred Barrows of Kansas City, Kansas, who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two sisters, three brothers and one half brother.

Mrs. Hubbard was a modest and loyal wife and mother. She enjoyed her home and no sacrifice was to great where her family and friends were concerned and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. L. Palmer, were held at the Austin Chapel at 2 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 1959. Interment in the Hale cemetery beside her husband.

and bright in heaven’s jeweled

They shine forever more.

Those attending the last rites of Mrs. Mae Hubbard in Hale were Mrs. Veda Warren, Mrs. Audree Barrows, Mrs. Nellie Barrows, Burl Barrows, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Barrows, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dean Cokerham, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brown. 314
