OBITUARY: MRS J. D. BURWELL CALLED TO REWARD

Alpha Narcissus Williams was born in Linn County, Missouri 10 January 1887. She married Jesse Defriend Burwell June 20 1907 and had five children, one, Dorothy, died at birth. She lived with Jesse in Browning, Missouri. She died at Grimm-Smith Hospital, Kirksville, Missouri on 2 August 1928 after battling cancer for four years. Her devotion to her family was a rare beauty. Her last word was to call her baby boy an endearing word. Services were held in the M.E. Church South, Fri, 2 PM by Rev. Eugene Wood assisted by Rev. M. A. Hale, and she was buried in Jenkins Cemetery, Browning, Linn County, Missouri. Surviving husband, Jesse and children were Mary, Elizabeth, Virginia and John. Other surviving relatives are her mother, Mrs. Mary Williams, two sisters; Mrs. Anna Crain, Galt, MO and Mrs. H. E. Thurman of Springfield, Nebr. Also a half sister, Mrs. M. P. Brassfield. Mrs. Burwell was a woman of high Christian character; a woman who stood for all that was good and beautiful in life. Her favorite poem during her last illness ended the article and began: "When I am dead I pray that you not weep" and ended: "When I am gone away; I am not dead."
