OBITUARY
Lena Allen, daughter of George W. and Samantha Jane Wheeler, was born March 1, 1869, in Winneshiek County, Iowa, and departed from this life at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, August 5, at her home in Lineville, following an extended illness at the age of 87 years, five months and five days.
In 1872 she moved with her parents to Lineville where she made her home until her death.
She became a member of the Methodist church at the age of 11 years, and was always a faithful and active member in the church.
In 1896 she was married to Jerry M. Hooker in her home on July 8. They enjoyed 60 years of married life together. For several years they lived in the country near Lineville, moving into town in 1921.
She was a dressmaker for many years. She made many friends and to know her was to love her.
Besides her husband, Jerry, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jessie Bryan, and one brother, Glenn E. Wheeler, of Lineville. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was “Aunt Lena: to many here.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 7, at the Methodist church in Lineville, under the direction of the Greenlee funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Otto Thome, with interment in the Evergreen cemetery.
OBITUARY #2 - Longtime Resident Dies at Lineville
Last rites were held recently at the Methodist hospital in Lineville for Mrs. Lena Hooker. Rev. Thome and Rev. Donalson were in charge. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.
Lena was born in Winnioche(sic) county, Iowa on March 1, 1868 (sic) and passed away at her home in Lineville at the age of 88 years(sic).
She was united in marriage to Jerry Hooker in 1896. Besides her husband, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jessie Bryan and one brother, Glen Wheeler.
