OBITUARY - Grace Hooker Morelock

Grace Hooker Morelock, the daughter of the late Enoch and Ida Gable Hooker, was born on a farm near Browning, Mo., Aug. 15, 1888, and passed away Dec. 5, 1978.

On Feb. 20, 1910, she was married to Earl Mason Morelock of Milan, Mo. To this union 5 children were born. Preceding her in death were her parents and three children.

Surviving are Max L. Morelock of Paradise, California; Clifford G. Morelcok, Denver, Col.; seven grandchildren, George Morelock and Mrs. Bob Giamgham, both of California; Suzette Morelock, Jeanette Chevez, Griffin and Clifford Morelock of Denver; one stepgranddaughter, Karen Ballard of Denver; and four great grandchildren; two living sisters Pauline Hooker, Browning and Mrs. Olive McCalmont of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a member of the Locust Valley Baptist Church in her early life, where she taught a Sunday School class. She later moved her membership to the Milan Baptist Church.

She was a loving wife and mother always ready to help her friends. In 1906 she went with her parents to Tucumcari, New Mexico. At Alamogordea, New Mexico she was secretary for the superindendent for the blind school. Later she went to El Paso, Texas, and worked in a Woolworth store. She frequently attended the bull fights at Jaurez, Old Mexico.

Following the death of her husband, she moved from her home Leewood Manor Nursing Home in Milan to California, where she could be near her son, Max.

Funeral services were conducted at the Riggen Funeral Home in Milan at 10:30 a.m., Dec. 9, 1978 by Rev. Walter Long. “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” were sung by Evelyn Miller, accompanied by Margaret Marr.

The pallbearers were Glen Frazier, Bill Mairs, John Moffet, Melvin Marlay, Artis Franklin and Leo Moran.

The burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of the Riggen Funeral Home.
