OBITUARY

Wallace "Pete" Stiles, age 80, of Malvern died Thursday, February 7, 2008, in the Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. He was born on November 9, 1927, in Dallas County, Arkansas, to the late Homer and Effie Bullock Stiles. Reared and educated in Dallas County and Malvern, Pete joined the United States Army and served as a truck driver and mailman on the Pacific Island of Guam. He went to work for ALCOA, where he was employed as a machine operator. He retired after 28 years with the company. Pete was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and member of the Bee Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil Reynolds Stiles, of the home, to whom he was married on April 12, 1947, in Malvern; by his son Larry and his wife, Debbie Stiles of Malvern; by two grandchildren, Casey Stiles Ollar and her husband, Mike, and January Schultz and her husband, Kyle; and by a great-grandchild, Weston Kyle Schultz.

Pete was also preceded in death by three brothers, Seldon Stiles, Dewitt Stiles and Dewey Stiles and by two sisters, Johnnie Burks and Jane Dedman.

His funeral will be on Sunday afternoon, February 10, 2008, at 2:30 p.m., in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Wesley Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Shane, Gary and Tommy Stiles, Fred Norwood, Steve Dedman and Mike Ollar.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bruce Burton, Donna Adams, Ronnie Collie, Spud Beason, Thomas Crumby, Brother Maxie Haynes and Bobby Williams.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Saturday afternoon, February 9, 2008, from four until six o'clock.

Memorials are requested to the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
