OBITUARY -- The Browning Leader-Record, 1895

Mrs. Lucy E. Gable, wife of Jno. Gable, Jr. died Dec. 30th, 1895, aged 30 yrs. 11 months, and 23 days. She joined the Methodist Episcopal Church South in 1884 during a meeting conducted by Rev. J. L. Meffert. Sister Gable had been in very poor health for several years. She leaves a husband and one child to mourn their loss. May they meet her in Heaven. The last song they heard her sing was "What a friend we have in Jesus." He is a friend, a true friend to the sorrowing; may they confide in him. The funeral services were conducted by the writer and pastor in the M. E. Church South in Browning, MO. The high esteem in which she was held in the village in which she lived was shown by the large congregation that gathered at the church. She was buried by gentle hands in a (?) ave on a bitter December day, (?) nt of her old home, where she (?) peacefully until the last day....
