OBITUARY

MRS. MOSES WEAVER DIES AT HOSPITAL
Deceased Became Suddenly Ill Sunday Night; Brought Here for Operation
Mrs. Moses Weaver, aged 74 years, whose maiden name was Sarah Fender, died early this morning at Memorial Hospital, where she was admitted at noon yesterday, when she was removed from the Weaver home in Davidsville. Mrs. Weaver was taken suddenly ill on Sunday of intestinal trouble while on a visit with Mr. Weaver among relatives in this county. She was operated on soon after her arrival at the Eighth Ward institution. The body was removed to the Weaver home this afternoon by the John Henderson Company. Funeral services will be conducted at the Davidsville Lutheran Church by the Rev. Maurice Gortner, pastor, and the Rev. Samuel G. Shetler of the Mennonite Church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be in the Weaver burying ground on the J.C. Pender farm near Davidsville. The deceased, whose maiden name was Sarah Fender, was a daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Keiper) Fender and was born October 6, 1852, in Upper Yoder Township. She was a sister of William Fender of Upper Yoder Township, and Mrs. Kate Yoder, of Davidsville and was a half-sister of Joseph Fender, of Conemaugh Township, Somerset County; George Fender of Pittsburgh; Mrs. George Seigh and Mrs. Francis Varner, of Westmont, and Mrs. Wilson Roddy, of Upper Yoder Township. Miss Fender and Mr. Weaver were married at Davidsville in 1888 by Isaac Yoder, J.P., and until three years ago they resided on the Weaver homestead near Davidsville. Mr. Weaver survives her with a son, Edwin Griffith, of Duke alley, and a daughter, Anna, wife of H. B. Forney, of Davidsville, ten grandchildren, and these stepchildren: Mrs. Edward Kaufman, of Conemaugh Township, Somerset County; John and Joseph Weaver, of Davidsville; Hiram Weaver, of Harrisonburg, Va.; David Weaver, of Moxham, and Henry Weaver, of Hastings, Neb. They are children born to Moses Weaver and Christina (Hershberger) Weaver, the latter having passed away in 1885. Four children were to Moses and Sara Weaver, three of whom have been dead for some years. They were Walter, Nora and Irvin Weaver. Mrs. Weaver was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in 1868 and was active in the Davidsville Church for a number of years. She was a member of the Home Department in the Sunday School and was a member of the Home and Foreign Missionary Department of the Davidsville charge.
