Charles Emmanuel I (January 12, 1562 - July 16, 1630), surnamed the Great, was the Duke of Savoy from 1580-1630.
He was the only child of Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy and Marguerite, Duchess of Berry.
He married Catherina Michaella (b.1567-d.1597), daughter of Philip II of Spain and Elizabeth of Valois and had 10 children.
After the death of his wife, he never remarried but was father to another 11 illegitimate children from 1600 onwards by the following mistresses, Luisa de Duing, Argentina Provana, Marguerite de Roussilon, Virginia Pallavicino, Anna Caterina Meraviglia and Anna Felizita Cusa. 1845
