Charles Emmanuel I (January 12, 1562 - July 16, 1630), surnamed the Great, was the Duke of Savoy from 1580-1630.
He was the only child of Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy and Marguerite, Duchess of Berry.
He married Catherina Michaella (b.1567-d.1597), daughter of Philip II of Spain and Elizabeth of Valois and had 10 children.
After the death of his wife, he never remarried but was father to another 11 illegitimate children from 1600 onwards by the following mistresses, Luisa de Duing, Argentina Provana, Marguerite de Roussilon, Virginia Pallavicino, Anna Caterina Meraviglia and Anna Felizita Cusa. 1896
Charles married Catherine Micaela Habsburg, daughter of Philip II of Spain Habsburg and Elizabeth de Valois Princess of France, on 11 Mar 1585 in Saragosa, Spain.1891 (Catherine Micaela Habsburg was born on 10 Oct 1567 in Madrid, Madrid, Spain 1891 and died on 6 Nov 1597 in Italy 1891.)
