OBITUARY

Professor Emeritus Byron Lynn Evers, 69 of Burleson, Texas, but formally of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2017. His wife and children were with him to bless him on his journey.

Instead of a funeral service: A Celebration of his life will be Monday, May 1 at 3 p.m. Hope Church, 1750 Beach Street, Fort Worth.

Byron was born January 22, 1948, in Cairo, Illinois, but his family lived in Metropolis, IL for fifty years. His parents and one brother preceded him in death: Father James Paul Evers and mother Florence Kennedy Evers and three-year-old brother Charles, as well as three of his brother-in-laws: Earl Wiedemen, Ralph Blue and Stanley Brinker.

Byron leaves his loving Family of Wife Brenda Baldridge Krieg Evers of Burleson, Texas; Daughter, Rebecca Krieg Sherwood and her husband Phil of Fort Worth; Sons, Rev. Lloyd James Evers and wife Nicole of Houston; Justin Lee Evers and wife Rebecca of Seattle; and Westley Brian Evers and wife Lexy of Seattle, WA. Grandsons: Corban Jaxon Evers, Ronald Arthur Sherwood, and Peter Montgomery Sherwood.

Granddaughters: Jane Elizabeth Sherwood, Susan Michelle Sherwood, Taher Lynn Evers, Brenan Kay Evers, Daycia Judson Evers, Jasielle Rayah Evers and Addilia Brantley Evers.
Byron's loving older Sisters: Georgia Blue of Griffin, Indiana, and her four children; and, Janice Brinker of Grant, Alabama, and her two boys. He loved all his nieces, nephews and cousins from all sides of his family.

Byron cherished all of his family of friends from Oklahoma and Colorado: his fellow journalists (newspaper writers, editors, photographers), his college professors and students, his hunting buddies, his church companions, and his car club members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Keystone Project, a ten year established non-profit ministry to train missionary teams to disciple and help the refugees in their new homes in the United States: Keystone Project P.O. Box 473, Rapid City, SD 57709.

The family is making arrangements to fund a scholarship for Sports Writing and Photography at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado, where Byron taught as the Director of Mass Communications.
