Lou Dora "Dora" Heard ⁶⁹⁶

  General Notes:

Dora is buried next to her sister Ida M. in Lono Cemetery (Lono, Arkansas).

Dora had polio as a child.

Aunt Dora first married Oscar Owens. ( See notes in her marriage section). According to family legend, they divorced and she married Dan Miller who disappeared and never returned. Aunt Dora had no children.

Aunt Dora had polio as a child at same time her sister, Aunt Ida had polio. Aunt Dora's legs were not paralyzed as was Aunt Ida's. This information given by Mamie Heard Mays.

I can remember Aunt Dora being able to walk very well. As a child, my first memory of her was she had white hair and wore it bobbed (short) and she was a little stout. She was shorter in height than my mother who is 5 ft. 7 in. tall. She was afraid of storms and went with Aunt Ida to the storm cellar every time there was a thunderstorm. -- --Martha Mays Gillespie 5-31-98. ⁵²⁶
