bullet  Research Notes:

Rev. Gammon started gathering Truitt family data in 1911 soon after his father's death. He was a Presbyterian minister, served pastorates in Kentucky and Missouri before going to Montreat, North Carolina, in 1949. He was active until just a short time before his death. He and his wife had spent the winter in San Antonio with their daughter (probably Florence Elizabeth), returning to Montreat in June 1967. He had a stroke shortly after returning home, lived until August, and was 91 years old when he died. He had his Gammon History printed in a nice, hard-bound book, and intended doing the same for the Truitt data, but didn't last long enough.

The family history papers of Rev. Gammon were donated to the Houston Public Library in August 1983 by his daughter Anne Louise (Gammon) DeForrest of Houston, Texas, in memory of her father, William Jefferson Gammon. There are six large files of Truitt family papers. The files consist of correspondence, notes, and questionaires. 1735
