OBITUARY 2

HOLLSOPPLE MAN ALWAYS LENT A HELPING HAND
Plowed neighbors' driveways, made wife breakfast

Daniel R. Mishler of Hollsopple, an automobile mechanic who worked at the former Packard car dealership in Johnstown, and at Hollern and Whalley Dodge in Windber, died Friday at UPMC Lee Regional. Mr. Mishler, who was 84, had emphysema. He enjoyed helping people and would do anything for anyone, said his wife, Alma. She said he was a thoughtful person and enjoyed plowing snow with his pickup truck for neighbors. He never wished for anything in return, she said. Mrs. Mishler said her husband made her breakfast every day and, when the were going somewhere, would pull the car out of the garage and alongside her home for her convenience. He also was thoughtful like that to his sons and grandchildren, she said, adding that he would drive his grandson to the bus stop when the weather was bad. He was the best husband and father anyone could have, she said. He would do anything for his boys, she said. "There will be a lot of people who will miss him," Mrs. Mishler said. "I will miss him like heck." She said she had known her husband since she was 13 years old, but they had been married only for a year and a half. She said his first wife and her first husband both died in 1997. "I've been very happy to have had him that long," she said. "I'll never ever forget the things he has done for me." "I knew he was an awfully good person, but I did not know how wonderful he was until I married him, " she said. Mrs. Mishler said she and his first wife, Mary, were good friends. She said his two sons and her three sons have been good friends for many years, riding all-terrain vehicles and fixing cars together. In addition to his second wife, he is survived by two sons, David L., of Tire Hill, and Thomas C., of Hollsopple; four stepchildren, Sherman Wingard and Buzz Wingard, both of Johnstown, Dennis Wingard, of Tire Hill; and Linda Sherman, of Brooksville, Fla.; two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. The George E. Mason Funeral Home, 1687 Tire Hill Road, Davidsville, is in charge of arrangements.
