OBITUARY

Dorothy Lea Maudlin of Boise, Idaho passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2009 at a Boise care center of natural causes. She was born on Oct. 4, 1917 in Browning, Mo. to George Enoch and Mary Pittman Hooker. Dorothy grew up spending lots of time playing outside on the family farm homesteaded in 1837 by her great-grandparents Jeremiah and Mary Brookshire Hooker. She received her early education in the one room school started by Jeremiah on this farm and graduated from high school in Laredo, Mo. Dorothy and Max A. Maudlin of Laredo, Mo. were married in his grandparents' home in 1939. After living in Kansas City, Mo. for a few years, the couple followed other family members to the sunshine of Southern California. In 1951 they designed and built their dream home in Temple City. Dorothy spent the last years of her life in the Boise area so she could be close to her daughter and granddaughter. Dorothy spent her lifetime being supportive of those around her. Her memory will be treasured by all who were the recipients of her beautiful smile and compassionate life. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Maudlin Nagel, granddaughter Victoria Anne Nagel of Boise, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Max, her parents, sister Kathleen, and brothers Rex and Joseph Hooker. The family would like to thank all of her compassionate caregivers at Spring Creek Assisted Living in Meridian, St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, St. Luke's Hospice, and Life Care Center of Treasure Valley. In lieu of flowers, enjoy a meal with those who are important to you. A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 24 at the Bowman Funeral Parlor, Garden City. Dorothy's life will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Community Center for Spring Creek Manor, Meridian.
