OBITUARY - Rex Enoch Hooker

Rex Enoch Hooker was born March 2 , 1915 at Browning, Mo., the son of George and Mary Pittman Hooker and died Thursday, April 30, 1987 at the Eastview Manor in Trenton where he had lived since February, 1986.

On May 11, 1940 he was married to Helen Hamilton and she preceded him in death May 14, 1985. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen Rex.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Grime and Robin Lett, both of Browning; a son, Mike Hooker, Trenton; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Stephenson, West Covina, California, and Dorothy Lee Maudlin, Temple City, California; and a brother Joseph Hooker, San Diego, California.

Mr. Hooker had lived in Browning most of his life and had owned and operated Hooker Chevrolet for over 25 years until illness forced his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of the Browning United Methodist Church, the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association and the National Association.

A memorial fund has been established to the Browning United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Mr. Hooker were held Sunday, May 3, at the Browning United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Burbee and Rev. Larry Linville officiating. Mary Grice was the soloist and Ila Nevins was the organist.

Casket bearers were Ronald Dixon, Dale Finney, Haskell Foster, James Elliott, Harley Hawkins and Ronald Lantz. Burial was in the Locust Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Wright Funeral Home in Browning.

Rex E. Hooker was born on his father’s farm, west of Browning. With the exception of three years spent in California, he has lived his entire life in and near Browning. He owned and operated the Hooker Chevrolet Garage.
