OBITUARY

JOSEPH MANGES, 72, COAL MAN, EXPIRES; FUNERAL TOMORROW
Miller Run Man Ill Several Months; Township Auditor
CAIRNBROOK, Feb. 15--Joseph Manges, aged 72, a well-known coal operator of Miller Run, died Saturday at his home there, following an illness of several months of a complication of diseases. Mr. Manges was a son of David and Margaret (Ling) Manges and was born here July 4, 1864. He was an active church worker, being a member of the Cairnbrook Lutheran Church for the last 50 years. For many years Mr. Manges was teacher of the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday school . He also served as auditor of Shade Township for many years. Mr. Mangus and his wife, the former Miss Elizabeth Weaver, observed their 50th wedding anniversary last July 7. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Mrs. Jennie Shumaker, Mrs. A. S. Anderson and John Manges, all of Hooversville R.D.2; Mrs. H. S. Manges of Alberta Lea, Minn.; Mrs. J. L. Blough, Stoystown; Mrs. F. F. Shaffer of Akron, O ., and David Manges, at home. He also leaves 29 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a brother, David Manges of Salix, and a sister, Mrs. John Zimmerman of Stoystown. Brief funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Manges home followed by services at 2:3 0 o'clock in the Cairnbrook Lutheran Church. Rev. H. B. Hull of Hooversvile will officiate. Interment will be in the Scalp Level Cemetery, under the direction of Charles Brumbaugh, Central City mortician.
