Duppstadts Celebrate 50th

Lewis W. and Shirley M. Duppstadt of 588 Huckleberry Hwy, Central City, celebrated 50 years of marriage August 6.

The couple was married at the Grace Lutheran Church in Stoystown in 1950.

Shirley is the daughter of the late Percy and Alma Walker. Lewis is the son of the late Russell "Rush" and Mary Duppstadt. They both attended Shanksville-Stoneycreek School District and they are both members of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Shanksville.

Lewis is partially retired from Stoneycreek Township. Shirley is a homemaker and babysitter for her grandchildren.

The couple has four children: Carol Jean, wife of Barry Burket, Friedens; Barbara, wife of Lynn Frazier, Central City; Wayne, married to the former Joni Engleka, Central City; and Clair, married to the former Tina Peterson, also of Central City.

They have nine grandchildren.

Lewis enjoys hunting, auto-racing, and springtime maple-sugar season.

Shirley enjoys baking, collecting cookbooks, flowers, auto-racing, and spending time with family.

The family held a pig roast and open house on Aug. 20 at the home of Clair and Tina Duppstadt. The couple renewed their wedding vows given to them by Rev. Homer Duppstadt of Buffalo Mills.
