William was an Episcopal priest, he served as rector of St. David's Church, Radnor, Philadelphia Co., PA as early as 1737, and remained there until 1776. During a portion of this time he was also in charge of St. Peter's-in-the-Valley.

He continued to reside in the neighborhood of Radnor until his death, which one authority cites at the age of 93. Another, "The History of Chester County, PA," says he died in 1803, aged 105 years. 1330
